New uniforms strengthen pride and professionalism across RSIPF specialist teams
New uniforms are strengthening pride and professionalism among RSIPF Maritime and Explosive Ordnance officers, while highlighting the enduring Australia–Solomon Islands partnership supporting safer communities across the country today and beyond.
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) presented new working uniforms to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Maritime and Explosive Ordnance Departments during a ceremony at Aola Wharf, recognising their vital work to protect Solomon Islands.

Maritime officers safeguard the nation’s borders, support operations across the archipelago and help disrupt transnational
organised crime, drug trafficking and unregulated fishing.
Explosive Ordnance officers locate and safely dispose of explosive remnants of the Second World War,
which continue to threaten communities in many parts of the country.
The presentation also underscored the
long-standing partnership between Australia and Solomon Islands in advancing
regional peace, stability and security, while supporting the capability and
professionalism of the RSIPF.
“A uniform represents professionalism, pride and a commitment to service,” said Assistant Defence Adviser Squadron Leader Brett Verity.
“It symbolises the important responsibilities
carried out every day by the men and women of the Maritime and Explosive
Ordnance Departments, often in challenging environments and in support of the
safety and security of their communities and nation.”
The Maritime Department was recognised for protecting Solomon Islands’
waters and connecting communities, while the Explosive Ordnance Department was
acknowledged for the courage, discipline and precision required to protect
lives.
The ADF reaffirmed its respect for both
departments and its commitment to working with Solomon Islands to build a safe,
secure and resilient nation.
The handover is another practical example
of the strong people-to-people and institutional links between the two
countries, grounded in shared values and a commitment to security and community
service.
