Thirteen young entrepreneurs from the Young Entrepreneurs Council Solomon Islands (YECSI) have strengthened their business and customer service skills after completing a Collaborative Customer Care course with the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC).

The training, facilitated by APTC and organized by YECSI, aimed to equip young business owners with essential customer service strategies. Nine young women business owners were among the 13 participants, reflecting the program’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.

The two-day intensive training gave participants valuable insights into effective communication techniques, conflict resolution, and customer loyalty strategies—all crucial for delivering high-quality service and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Wendy Kealau, owner of Ezen’s Catering, Fashion, Entertainment, and Tiamaria Pub (Red Door), highlighted the vital role YECSI plays in supporting young entrepreneurs and how the training has positively impacted participants.

"YECSI has been supporting young entrepreneurs in the Solomon Islands by creating a space where we can come together, talk, learn, build, help, and motivate each other through our experiences. YECSI also played a role as an advocate by organizing and enabling us, YECSI members, to participate in the Customer Care course facilitated by APTC."

"Good customer service ensures our customers feel valued and supported throughout their journey. This training provided us with key skills and techniques that we can apply in our businesses to enhance customer experiences."

"Everyone truly enjoyed their time with the facilitator and learned much—how to communicate with customers, sell their business, interact with clients, handle difficult situations, and provide excellent service. Thank you, APTC, for such a great and insightful program. We’ve gained valuable skills and hope for more training opportunities in the future."

Moses Jnr Aunama, YECSI Coordinator, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting its members through various programs this year. The main initiative will commence in April.

"This training has boosted our members with newfound skills crucial for their entrepreneurial journey. We are fortunate to have access to great programs from APTC this quarter, and we are excited and thankful for that."

YECSI has a robust line-up of programs and initiatives planned for 2025.  The monthly Sunday Market, in partnership with Pacific Crown Hotel (PCH), has already launched its first market, with the next scheduled for March 2nd and ten more planned throughout the year.

YECSI, known for its dedication to empowering young entrepreneurs, organized this initiative as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the young business professionals in the Solomon Islands.
