New Munda dive centre to boost Solomon Islands diving tourism
Solomon Islands’ reputation as a world-class diving destination is set to receive a major boost, with Emperor Divers preparing to open a new full-service dive centre in Munda, Western Province, later this year.
Based at Zipolo Habu Resort on Lola Island, the Munda dive centre will expand access to some of Western Province’s most sought-after scuba diving experiences, including reefs, wrecks and lagoon sites around Munda, Vonavona Lagoon, Rendova and nearby areas.
The expansion builds on Emperor Divers’ existing presence in the country, which includes the liveaboard Emperor Bilikiki and a day diving centre in Honiara.
By combining Emperor Divers’ operating standards with the local knowledge of Bilikiki, which has been active in Solomon Islands since 1988, the company says the centre will support both visiting divers and the wider tourism offering in Western Province.
The full-service centre will include compressors, cylinders, rental equipment and dive boats, supporting organised day diving for visitors seeking easier access to Solomon Islands’ reefs and wrecks from a convenient island base.
To make the service more accessible, divers will also be able to arrange pick-ups from accommodation across the wider area, including Noro, Munda, Rendova and locations in between.
Munda is already an important gateway for Western Province, supported by its international airport and direct weekly services from Brisbane.
Further details on dive packages, operating dates and the official opening are expected to be announced soon.
