Sixty New Members Join Young Entrepreneurs Council Solomon Islands

The Young Entrepreneurs Council Solomon Islands (YECSI) has welcomed 60 new members during a recent induction session aimed at strengthening the country’s growing network of young business leaders.

The induction brought together aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs, providing them with an overview of YECSI’s role in supporting youth-led businesses and promoting entrepreneurship across the Solomon Islands.

The session also provided an opportunity for new members to introduce their businesses, share their goals, and network and interact with fellow young entrepreneurs already part of the council.

YECSI Coordinator, Moses Jnr Aunama, officially welcomed the new members and emphasised the importance of collaboration and active participation within the network.

“This induction marks the beginning of your journey with YECSI. We are building a strong platform where young entrepreneurs can connect, learn from each other, and grow their businesses. Your ideas, energy, and commitment will help shape the future of entrepreneurship in our country,” he said.

As part of the program, new members were divided into smaller groups to discuss the challenges and opportunities they face in their business journeys.

Key issues raised included access to finance, market visibility, business skills development, and the need for stronger networks and mentorship.

Participants also shared practical ideas on how YECSI can better support its members, including organising more capacity-building workshops, creating networking platforms, and strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders.

The group discussions provided valuable insights that will help guide the council’s future activities and priorities.

The induction session also featured a fundraising initiative led by YECSI’s Fundraising Committee. Raffle tickets were sold at SBD20 each, giving participants a chance to win from a pool of 21 prizes.

Chairlady of the YECSI Fundraising Committee Creina Desonia Tapalaboe, said the activity was an important effort to support the council’s ongoing programs.

“We are encouraged by the support shown by our members and partners. The funds raised will go towards supporting YECSI activities that empower young entrepreneurs and provide more opportunities for growth,” she said.

The successful induction marks another step forward for YECSI as it continues to expand its membership and strengthen its role in supporting young entrepreneurs across the Solomon Islands. With new members now part of the network, the council is set to further drive innovation, collaboration, and business development among youth nationwide.

Thirteen young entrepreneurs from the Young Entrepreneurs Council Solomon Islands (YECSI) have strengthened their business and customer service skills after completing a Collaborative Customer Care course with the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC).
