Young Entrepreneurs Council Launches Fundraising Drive to Empower Solomon Islands Youth
The Young Entrepreneurs Council Solomon Islands (YECSI), through its fundraising sub-committee, has officially launched a fundraising drive aimed at supporting programs and activities that empower young entrepreneurs across the country.
The initiative was launched during the monthly Sunday Market held at Troppo, King Solomon Hotel, attracting strong interest from marketgoers and supporters of youth development.
The fundraising drive features a raffle draw with 21 prizes to be won, including cash prizes, household items, and business-support tools. Tickets are priced at $20 each, with the draw scheduled for Friday, 21 August 2026.
All proceeds will go towards strengthening YECSI’s initiatives that provide opportunities, training, and support for young people in business.
Speaking during the launch, YECSI Coordinator Moses Jrn Aunama highlighted the importance of community support in driving youth-focused initiatives.
“This fundraising effort is about investing in the future of our young entrepreneurs. With the support of the public, we can continue to build programs that equip our youth with practical skills, confidence, and opportunities to succeed,” he said.
Mr Aunama added that funds raised from the initiative will support YECSI’s programs and activities for young entrepreneurs in Honiara and across the provinces.
He called on the public and individuals to support this important cause, noting that there are also attractive prizes available for those who participate in the raffle.
Chairlady of the YECSI Fundraising Committee Creina Desonia Tapalaboe acknowledged the role of partnerships and community participation in making the initiative successful.
“We are grateful for the support shown today. Every ticket purchased contributes to empowering young people across the Solomon Islands. Together, we are creating pathways for innovation, self-reliance, and sustainable livelihoods,” she said.
Raffle tickets are available for purchase at the YECSI office, Sons and Daughters, and 3M at the Art Gallery, as well as during the ongoing Sunday Markets.
The YECSI fundraising drive aligns with its mission to support, empower, and grow the next generation of entrepreneurs. Funds raised will directly contribute to programs that target youth from diverse backgrounds, including those in rural and underserved communities.
Members of the public are encouraged to purchase raffle tickets and support a cause that aims to build a stronger future for young entrepreneurs in the Solomon Islands.
