Honiara’s Creative Young Entrepreneurs Take Over Sunday Market with Bigger, Bolder Experience
Something bigger is happening in Honiara this Sunday and it’s all about young people, creativity, and bold ideas.
The Young Entrepreneurs Council Solomon Islands (YECSI) and its fundraising committee is bringing back its Arts, Crafts and Fashion Market on 7 June at Troppo, King Solomon Hotel, with fresh energy, new products, and a stronger vibe from 9AM to 6PM.

“This is not just another Sunday market,” Moses Jrn Aunama, the Coordinator of the Young Entrepreneurs Council Solomon Islands, said. “We’ve seen how much our young entrepreneurs have grown, and this event is about giving them a bigger stage while inviting the public to truly experience the creativity and potential we have here in Solomon Islands.”
Chairlady of the YECSI Fundraising Committee Creina Desonia Tapalaboe said the event is designed to create a deeper connection between the community and local businesses.
“We want people to come out, enjoy the atmosphere, and support something meaningful. Every purchase made is a direct investment into our young entrepreneurs and their future,” Ms Creina said.
While YECSI markets have become a familiar space for local vendors and supporters, this weekend’s event is set to stand out. Organisers say visitors can expect more variety, more creativity, and a more engaging experience than previous markets.

From bold fashion pieces and handmade crafts to unique accessories, the market will feature a diverse range of locally made products. Vendors are stepping up with new ideas and fresh designs, reflecting the growing confidence and innovation of young Solomon Island entrepreneurs.
Beyond shopping, the market also brings an interactive element for attendees. Shoppers who purchase any item can enter a draw by posting their purchase online using the hashtag #troppomarket, with prizes including meals, locally made items, and shopping vouchers.

YECSI is also encouraging more young people to get involved by signing up as members, offering opportunities for networking, business support, and growth.
More than just a marketplace, the event is a celebration of youth, creativity, and community spirit.
It’s a chance for the public to connect with local talent, support small businesses, and be part of a growing movement driven by young entrepreneurs.
