Investment Support Sparks New Wave of Local Entrepreneurs
Ten emerging entrepreneurs are stepping into a new chapter of growth and opportunity after showcasing their business potential at the Iumi Gro Business Accelerator Shark Tank finale, an initiative supported by the Australian High Commission’s private sector development program.
Over the past five months, these entrepreneurs have undergone an intensive journey of training, mentorship, and hands-on business development.

From refining their ideas to strengthening their operations, each participant arrived at the finale ready to present not just a business pitch, but a vision for the future.
In a high-energy showcase of innovation and ambition, ten local SMEs pitched their growth strategies before a panel of judges and investors. For many, it was a defining moment, where preparation met opportunity.
Five standout businesses—Cravings, SolAgro, B&E Diving, Aelan Cruise, and CEMs Holdings, emerged as winners, each securing SBD100,000 in co-investment to bring their expansion plans to life.
The support marks more than just funding; it represents confidence in local ideas and the potential of Solomon Islanders to build thriving enterprises.
The remaining participants—Menah Fish Supplies, Shine Bright Cleaning Services, Storeroom Productions, Sone Logistics, and Smart Technology, were also recognised for their promise and determination.
With continued support from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration (MCILI), they will keep building on the momentum gained through the program.
For Rose Korinihona, the experience has been nothing short of transformative.
“The Accelerator pushed us to refine our vision and sharpen our strategy. Pitching at the Shark Tank finale was both challenging and inspiring, and this support will help us take the next step in growing our business,” Ms Korinihona said.
Beyond individual success stories, the program highlights a broader shift, one where inclusive economic participation is gaining ground, particularly for women entrepreneurs.
Minister of Women, Youth, Children, and Family Affairs, Cathy Launa Nori, underscored the importance of empowering women in business.
“Women are capable and effective business leaders. And despite the challenges they face, women entrepreneurs continue to demonstrate resilience and determination.
“When women participate in economic development, the benefits extend beyond individuals to families and entire communities, creating more inclusive and sustainable growth.”

Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, Jeff Roach, praised the calibre of the finalists and reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to supporting local enterprise.
“Congratulations to all ten Iumi Gro SMEs for delivering outstanding presentations of your business plans,” High Commissioner Roach said.
“Australia will always support new and ambitious local businesses. They are the future of the country’s private sector and the key to delivering more jobs and higher incomes for Solomon Islanders.”
Permanent Secretary for MCILI, Riley Mesepitu, highlighted the significance of the initiative in strengthening the country’s small business ecosystem.
“Our entrepreneurs are resilient and forward-looking. Through this partnership with Australia, we are equipping them with the tools, confidence, and investment support needed to grow sustainable businesses that create opportunities for our people,” PS Mesepitu said.
As the first initiative of its kind in Solomon Islands, the Iumi Gro Business Accelerator represents more than a program, it signals a growing ecosystem where local entrepreneurs are supported to dream bigger, build stronger, and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economic future.
