MAL Backs YECSI Awards 2025 With $30,000 Sponsorship
Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAL) has stepped forward with a major show of support for young entrepreneurs, committing $30,000 as a Gold Sponsor for the upcoming YECSI Awards 2025.
The announcement, made by Minister Hon. Franklyn Derek Wasi during a signing ceremony in Honiara, underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen youth participation in agribusiness and make agriculture a more appealing and sustainable career path for young Solomon Islanders.
“We are very pleased to be supporting this prestigious event,” said Minister Wasi. “We recognize the critical role that YECSI plays among our young entrepreneurs, especially in driving interest in the agri-business sector. Our youth are the future of agriculture in the Solomon Islands.”
The sponsorship reflects the strong partnership between MAL and the Young Entrepreneurs Council of Solomon Islands (YECSI), building on previous collaborations such as the Cocoa and Coconut Revolving Fund (CCRF) and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focused on strengthening market linkages and local food systems.
As part of this year’s partnership, the Agri-Business Award of the Year 2025 will now be officially branded as the ‘MAL Agri-Business Award of the Year 2025’, honoring the ministry’s contribution to promoting youth-led agribusiness innovation.
YECSI Chairman Limahl Totogi welcomed the ministry’s support, describing it as a milestone in the council’s mission to empower young entrepreneurs.
“The signing of this gold sponsorship is a significant milestone for the 2025 YECSI Awards, scheduled for the 13th of November 2025.”
“This event serves as a platform to celebrate and recognize the achievements, innovation, and resilience of young entrepreneurs across the Solomon Islands. It is an opportunity to spotlight emerging leaders and inspire the next generation, promoting youth-led economic growth.”
Scheduled for November 13th, 2025, the YECSI Awards will celebrate outstanding achievements across various youth-led business sectors, with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and community impact.
