First Nations and Dreamcast Theatre Unite for Free Kastom Cultural Performance in Honiara

The Australian High Commission in Solomon Islands, in partnership with Dreamcast Theatre and Big hART, will be hosting a unique cultural event celebrating First Nations heritage from Australia alongside local artistry.

This free kastom (First Nations, Indigenous) performance will take place at the Dreamcast Arts Hub in Chinatown on Saturday, 9 August 2025.

The event begins at 4:00 PM with a free BBQ, followed by the cultural performance at 5:00 PM. Admission is free and open to the public.

The performance features First Nations artists from the Pilbara region of northern Western Australia, collaborating with Dreamcast Theatre artists in a special cultural exchange between the Solomon Islands and Indigenous Australia.

Together, they will share stories, traditions, and music that highlight the rich cultural heritage of their peoples.

The Pilbara region is renowned for its stunning ancient landscapes, some dating back 3.5 to 4.3 billion years, and is home to over 700 historic Indigenous archaeological sites and one million rock engravings, many of which are more than 30,000 years old.

This deep connection to land and history is reflected in the performance and offers a rare opportunity for audiences in Honiara to experience this living heritage.

Australian High Commission is proud to be the major sponsor of this cultural collaboration, which strengthens ties between Australia and the Solomon Islands through shared respect and celebration of Indigenous culture.

Everyone is encouraged to attend and share in this vibrant cultural experience. The event promises to be a memorable occasion bringing together communities through art and tradition.

Come along to enjoy an evening of cultural stories, music, and friendship celebrating the ancient traditions of the Pilbara and the Solomon Islands.
