Solomon Airlines Suspends Lomlom Flights

Solomon Airlines has suspended its Dash-8 flight operations to Lomlom Airport, citing ongoing disputes related to its western extension.  

The national carrier confirmed the suspension in a statement on 18th March, highlighting that the decision follows claims made concerning the development of the Lomlom Airport's western extension.  


"Solomon Airlines has advised it will be suspending flight operations immediately to Lomlom following claims relating to the western extension of Lomlom Airport," the statement read.  

As a result of the suspension, the previously scheduled Thursday Dash-8 service to and from Lomlom Airport will be replaced with Twin Otter services operating to and from Lata (Santa Cruz) Airport on the same day. This change will affect passengers who had booked travel to Lomlom.  

Solomon Airlines indicated that further discussions with the concerned parties are expected to take place after their scheduled legal proceedings. The airline emphasized its commitment to resolving the issue promptly and respectfully.  

"We understand the importance of our services to Lomlom and are making every effort to address this issue in a timely and respectful manner," the statement continued.

The airline acknowledged the inconvenience caused to its customers and stakeholders and requested their patience and understanding during this period.

"We appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers and stakeholders as we work towards a resolution. Solomon Airlines remains committed to providing safe and reliable air services, and we will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available."  

The suspension of flights to Lomlom will likely impact travel and logistics for residents and businesses in the area. Passengers are advised to contact Solomon Airlines for further information and alternative travel arrangements.
