The Australian High Commission has launched a new round of the Solomon Islands – Australia Community Partnerships program.
This initiative supports community-led projects to improve living standards through small-scale infrastructure development.
The program funds staff houses, toilet blocks, community water tanks, solar power installations for community infrastructure, and community halls. Community groups across the Solomon Islands can apply for funding, and the High Commission encourages jointly funded projects with Members of Parliament.
In 2024, Australia funded a record 100 community-level projects across all provinces of the Solomon Islands, injecting more than SBD 23.62 million directly into local hardware and transport businesses.
Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Rod Hilton, said, “Australia is committed to our partnership with Solomon Islands. We are proud to support communities across Solomon Islands to deliver small-scale community infrastructure projects.”
“We’re also proud to support Solomon Islands’ businesses and jobs directly – buying hardware materials and shipping services for these projects”, said High Commissioner Hilton.
The Australian High Commission will accept applications until Sunday, 23 March 2025. Interested groups can find more information and application details at https://solomonislands.embassy.gov.au/honi/communitypartnerships.html
