Taking place at the Heritage
Park Hotel, the event, which included a Western Province product update,
provided the perfect opportunity for international buyers to meet with their
Solomon Islands ‘seller counterparts with the creation of new business
opportunities and building new partnerships the main focus for all
participants.,
Tourism Solomons CEO (Acting), Dagnal Dereveke said judging by the post-Mi Save Solo comments received from buyers which he described as ‘invaluable feedback’, those participants attending the event had expressed “strong satisfaction” with the overall opportunities Mi Save Solo presented.
“We could not have asked for more positive feedback,” Mr Dereveke said.
“Overall satisfaction rating received from our international buyers was a huge 4.8 out of a possible 5.0, so we know we are on the right track with what the event aims to achieve.
“Giving attendees the opportunity to have an ‘eyes on’ experience experiencing product both in and around Honiara and the Western Province proved invaluable.
“Add to this the opportunity to go face to face with local operators, and little wonder, in terms of collaboration and knowledge-sharing, many of our guests have now voiced a strong desire to support the development of the local industry.
“One has even offered to contribute their expertise to local suppliers with training designed to show how overseas travel agents and wholesale tour operators operate.”
Mr Dereveke said the success of the 2024 event would, going forward, play a major role in enabling the local tourism sector to interact with its international travel industry counterparts.
