Education Leaders Attend ‘Change Leadership’ Training in Australia

Twenty-five education sector leaders from across Solomon Islands are attending a Change Leadership course at the University of Newcastle, Australia, supported by the Australian Government.

 

Training participants include senior officials from the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD), Provincial Education Providers from all nine provinces, representatives from the Education Sector Support Program (ESSP), and other education leaders in the country.

The delegation is being trained by the University of Newcastle in Australia from 3 – 17 November 2024, with additional training provided online, and a two-week course in Honiara in February 2025.

 

Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands His Excellency Rod Hilton said the Change Leadership Course will empower participants to deliver improved education management aligned with the new Education Act 2023.

“Australia is committed to supporting the development of great education leaders in Solomon Islands, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and tools to effectively lead and manage the education system here,’ High Commissioner Hilton said.

 

The Change Leadership course will provide a foundation qualification for twenty-five Solomon Islands education sector leaders and build essential expertise and knowledge in education management, development, change, and governance.
