Ministry Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Youth Voice in Solomon Islands

The Ministry of Women, Youth, Children, and Family Affairs (MWYCFA) has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating closely with the Solomon Islands National Youth Congress (SINYC) to amplify the voices of young people across the country.

This commitment was solidified during a recent courtesy visit by SINYC's leadership team, including Chair Harry James Olikwailafa, Vice Chair Philip Subu, and General Secretary Josie-Anne Ashley, to MWYCFA's Permanent Secretary, Dr. Cedric Alependava, and the Director of the Youth Division, Andre Tipoki.

During the meeting, SINYC shared its six-month Progress Report highlighting ongoing partnership projects and presented its Work Plan for the next six months. The SINYC team, consisting of dynamic young individuals, discussed the challenges Youth Congress faces in its mission and proposed strategies for overcoming these obstacles.

The meeting also provided a platform for SINYC to express their gratitude to the Government, mainly through the MWYCFA, for their continued support.

However, they emphasized the need for additional resources to fully realize their goals and enhance their ability to support youth across the Solomon Islands through their Provincial Structures.

In a statement posted on SINYC's official social media platform following the meeting, MWYCFA expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, noting their shared dedication to empowering youth and driving positive change in local communities.

The Ministry said, "We look forward to progressing together, united in our commitment to empowering youth and creating lasting positive change."

As part of its ongoing commitment, SINYC continues to align its projects, particularly those focused on entrepreneurship, with implementing the Government's 100-day program policy.

The Solomon Islands National Youth Congress (SINYC) is a Quasi-Government Organization that implements the National Youth Policy and Plan of Action for Youth Empowerment.

The SINYC plays a crucial role in shaping and guiding youth-focused initiatives across the Solomon Islands. It works closely with various stakeholders, including government bodies, local communities, and international partners, to empower and uplift the nation's youth.

Through its programs and partnerships, SINYC aims to address the challenges faced by young people and create opportunities for their growth and development, ensuring their active participation in the country's socio-economic progress.
