Principal Basil Wasiia expressed his gratitude and emphasized the importance of this addition.
He said, "The science lab acquisition addresses a critical infrastructure need that Mbokona Community High School has lacked for the past 22 years. We can now offer a full science curriculum to our high school students every year."
"Science laboratories provide students with the necessary resources to develop critical analytical and qualitative skills. These skills are essential for producing research outcomes to build the Solomon Islands' economy and address future challenges."
Mr. Wasiia also praised the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders involved, stating, "Stakeholder collaborative partnership is the bedrock to achieving our collective goals through strengthened collaboration and renewed partnership going forward in the near future."
The new science laboratory will benefit the school's 1,106 students, including 522 girls and 584 boys, and its 55 teachers, comprising 41 females and 14 males.
The project's successful completion was celebrated with a special handover ceremony, attended by prominent figures such as the Minister of Education, Honourable Tozen Leokana MP; Australia's Foreign Minister Penny Wong; New Zealand High Commissioner Jonathan Schwass; and school community members.
