“Our stays fixed on rebuilding and growing visitor arrivals from our key source markets. The Q3 results show clear progress towards returning to and exceeding pre-COVID levels.”
Australia remains the Solomon Islands’ largest tourism source market, accounting for 29.2 percent of arrivals. Australian visit numbers held steady at 5,977, almost identical to figures recorded over the same period in 2024.
The biggest growth came from New Zealand, which recorded a 12.6 percent increase, rising from 1,257 visitors in 2024 to 1,415 in 2025. Arrivals from Fiji also increased by 3.1 percent, while declines were recorded from Papua New Guinea (16.6 percent) and the United States (3.3 percent).
Numbers for Q4 are also looking strong with international conferences, including the 2025 Pacific Labour Mobility AGM and Pacific Agreement on Closer Economic Relations (PACER) Joint Committee Meeting and Ministerial Meetings, taking place in Honiara in November.
The tourism sector, one of the country’s key economic pillars, is still rebuilding after the disruptions caused by COVID-19. The latest data marks one of the most promising signs yet of a return to stability and growth.
